Sacramento in 1980. He served his club as chair of the avenues of service, bulletin editor, secretary and foundation chair.
He was elected president in 1987. Since that time he has served in the district in various capacities including Chairman of Group Study Exchange, Foundation Alumni Chairman, Planned Giving and Annual Giving Chairs, three years as District Foundation Chair, District Secretary and District Chair of International Service. He has spoken at several Foundation Seminars, Membership Seminars, District Assemblies and P. E. T. S. This year he is serving as Assistant Governor for the Four Avenues of Service.
He has twice received The Rotary Foundation District Service Award and is a recipient of The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service.

Steve is a native Californian, born in San Francisco. He attended schools in Bellevue, WA, Flint, MI, University of Washington, and Chabot College. He also served in the US Marine Corps Reserve attaining the rank of sergeant.
Snyder was a previous President of the San Rafael Rotary Club and President of the Auburn Rotary Club in 1998-99. He is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, which is one of Rotary’s most esteemed awards. Steve currently serves as District 5190 Assistant Governor and has been nominated to shepherd the District’s 46 clubs beginning July 1, 2004. Jerry Hall, Past District Governor, announced Snyder’s nomination and commended him for taking on the job which requires, among other various duties, visiting all 46 district clubs during the first 90 days of his one-year term accompanied by his wife, Sharron. Hall gave special recognition to Sharron Snyder for her commitment to doing what is needed to assist Steve and sharing the responsibility for getting the district work done.
