Mike is a believer in George Chaffey’s Rule #1 about “having fun”. Mike showed up for his first Rotary meeting as Club President decked out in his Shrine Clown costume (white face and all) blowing a plastic trumpet ! The Club is still in shock. At the District level Mike chaired the Annual Foundation fund raising event at the same time he was Club President. Mike took the District to a new venue at the State Fairgrounds during the running of the California State Fair. The event was quite successful. At the present time, Mike is serving as Membership Chair for District 5160.

National Flags

As I noted previously, Rotterdam has a tremendously large immigrant population. They have figured out some really creative ways to attract the various nationalities to both the main library and the branches.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to see all the little flags in this photo. The little flags on top of the shelves provide a quick visual to the books in the corresponding language.
Each section is also marked with signs, but the flags are often a quicker way to identify what’s what. It was sure easy for me to pick out the U.S. and British sections though. Cool idea.
