			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>John was born in Los Angeles and raised in Lynwood and still lives in Southern California. He began a career in manufacturing in 1961 and continues to do so. He joined the Rotary Club of Paramount in 1990. John is also involved with the community as an active member of the Paramount Chamber of&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Commerce, serving as Treasurer in 1989-1990. In 1998 John was selected as Businessman of the Year.&nbsp; John is a Director for the Los Cerritos YMCA. </p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; LINE-HEIGHT: 13.5pt" class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">In Rotary John has been Club President, Secretary and was chosen Rotarian of the Year in 1995.&nbsp; John&nbsp; is&nbsp; a Benefactor and a Major Donor. He served on the Paul Harris Celebration Committee from 1998 thru 2002, the District Conference Committee from 1999 thru 2002 and was an Assistant Governor in 1999-2000. He has attended three Zone Institutes, four Presidential Conferences and the past seven R.I. Conventions.</span></p>
<p align="justify"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Barbara is also involved in her community as a member of the Montebello Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and past Chairwoman. She was also the Chairwoman of the Montebello Chamber Ambassadors. Barbara is a member of the Beverly Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and a Beverly Hospital guild member.</font></p>
<p><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Barbara and Greg were married in 1982 and have 4 children, Nathan, Zachary, Kaylie and Jenna ranging in age from 4-13 years. As a family they enjoy snow skiing, water skiing and wakeboarding. She also enjoys playing tennis, running and scrapbooking.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">He joined the Culver City Rotary Club in 1984 with a classification of &ldquo;Retail Pharmacy.&rdquo;&nbsp; He was President of his Club during the 1996-1997 Rotary year and was honored with his club&rsquo;s &ldquo;Rotarian of the Year&rdquo; award in 1999-2000.&nbsp; He established a Match Club relationship between Culver City and the Pune Parvati club in Pune, India and was instrumental in obtaining a $  240,000 3-H Grant with them.&nbsp; He has been his club&rsquo;s representative for Polio Corrective Surgery matching grant projects in India since 1996.</font></p>
<p style="LINE-HEIGHT: normal" class="MsoBodyText"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: Trebuchet MS"><font size="2">His numerous District leadership responsibilities have included World Community Service Chair, Area Representative, International Assembly Greeters Chairman, Assistant Governor for International Service, and District Directory Editor.&nbsp; Pat has chaired the Paul Harris Foundation Dinner and the District Conference.&nbsp; He has been the District Governors&rsquo; Executive Aide during the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 Rotary years and will serve as vice chair for the District&rsquo;s Charitable Foundation.&nbsp; He was honored with the Rotary Foundation District Service Award in 1998-1999 and the District &ldquo;Rotarian of the Year&rdquo; award 1999-2000. </font></span></p>

John is Director of the District&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Centennial Committee, coordinating a three-year plan to develop permanent remembrances by clubs and the District to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of Rotary in 2005.</span></p>
<p style="TEXT-ALIGN: justify; LINE-HEIGHT: 13.5pt" class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 10pt">John lives in Fullerton with Leann, his wife of 25 years. His hobbies include playing cards, breeding and racing quarter horses and doing Rotary work.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">He served for three years as President and Chairman of the Board of the Lighted Window Preschool Inc., a non- profit corporation, during its formation and initial development. This school is now running full time with a full complement of students. </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">He has numerous hobbies that include camping and fly-fishing, amateur radio (kj6du), collecting and repairing antique clocks, repairing antique radios, and designing electronic devices.&nbsp; He is an accomplished private pilot who has participated in air races including an International Air Race from London, England to Victoria, British Columbia.&nbsp; </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">He has been married to Marsha Lynn Floyd for 23 years. They have two daughters Jennifer, who is graduating from nursing school in December 2002, and Allison who is a junior in La Canada High School.&nbsp; The family resides in La Canada, California.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Kermit believes that Service in Rotary offers the greatest opportunity for self-expression and fulfillment of any organization in the world and that being a part of Rotary has &ldquo;given new meaning to his life&rdquo;. </font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">He also works as a Rotarian with the Healing the Children Foundation and has made two trips this year to Guatemala to assist in the operation of two major neurological surgical missions. To insure the success of these missions Kermit traveled to Guatemala, prior to the arrival of the surgical teams, to install the medical equipment he and Rotary District 5260 had donated and to repair other medical equipment that was needed by the &ldquo;medical team&rdquo;.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Kermit is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow, a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation, a recipient of the Crystal Dove Award, a double sustaining member, and has made a substantial donation to the Polio Eradication Fund.&nbsp; He is considered to be an outstanding public speaker and is in demand throughout the District to speak on behalf of the Polio Eradication Program. He is considered to be an expert in PowerPoint program development and presentation.&nbsp; He has made himself available to the District&rsquo;s Speakers Bureau.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" align="left"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">As a City Administrator, Arnie has developed many skills that are very useful for a District Governor.&nbsp; His leadership style is to handle stress with humor, to promote bottoms up solutions, to anger slowly and forgive quickly. &nbsp;While he emphasizes that the major role of a governor should be to support the club, which he will do, he is also going to actively promote and encourage clubs to become more involved with the youth of their communities.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" align="left"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">After receiving his Governor Nominee Pin from Governor Brenda and Governor Elect Marc, he introduced the First Lady Nominee, his wife Maria. They will both be retired during his year as Governor so that they can devote 100% of their time to the service of Rotary.&nbsp; Congratulations to a wonderful couple, Arnie and Maria.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" align="left"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Arnie has a long history of commitment to Rotary on a club, district and international level.&nbsp; He served as President of the Five Cities / Pismo Beach Rotary Club in 1987-88, where he was a charter member, and he also served as President of the Rotary Club of Santa Paula in 1996-97.&nbsp; He has been involved in our district as Group Rep, Deputy District Foundation Chair and Assistant Governor.&nbsp; He had also been asked by Gov. Elect Marc Vertin to serve as his Administrative Assistant next year. He is a PRLS and Master PRLS graduate, a Rotary Foundation Benefactor and a multiple Paul Harris Fellow.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" align="left"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Arnie has been active in Rotary International&rsquo;s Polio Eradication Initiative.&nbsp; During his year as President in Pismo Beach the club completed their three-year commitment to the PolioPlus fundraising effort in only three months time. He recently went to India to help with their NID and their fight against polio. He has already attended 8 different Rotary International Conventions and is looking forward to developing a District International Project where our members can unite and become involved at all levels.</font></p>

<p align="left"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Rod has served his club in numerous Club committees, director and officer positions.&nbsp; In 1992-93&nbsp; he received the club&#8217;s &#8220;Order of the Red Sock&#8221; &#8211; not an annual recognition, but given by the Club President to recognize an individual Rotarian who exemplifies the Rotary motto of &#8220;Service Above Self.&#8221;&nbsp; During his year as Club President, the Salinas Steinbeck was recognized as the district&#8217;s &#8220;Club of Excellence&#8221; and Rod was recognized as the &#8220;Most Outstanding President&#8221; in District 5230.&nbsp; In 1995-96 he received the club&#8217;s &#8220;Rotarian of The Year&#8221; award.</font></p>
<p align="left"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">At the District level, Rod has served as Assistant Governor, as District Information Officer, as District Secretary, as District Newsletter Editor, as District Conference Chair, and as an Area Representative.&nbsp; He has served on fourteen District Committees; chairing or co-chairing ten. </font></p>

District 5220 was awarded two large 3H Grants in Honduras and The Philippines, and they are currently in the second year of these projects. They have just completed a large project at an orphanage in Romania, which included the involvement of ten different Rotary clubs, other organizations and private industry. They are now planning a project in Kenya, which would involve an orphanage modeled after the Romania project.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Rotary International awarded David with the Service Above Self Award in 2002. He also has received the Four Avenues of Service Award from Rotary International and has been honored twice with Foundation Service Awards from District 5220.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">David and Diane have been married since 1974. Diane has been a kindergarten teacher for the past 14 years. Diane volunteers a lot of her time at their church, where she is a leader of a youth puppet team. Her hobbies include reading and sewing.</font></p>
<p style="LINE-HEIGHT: normal" class="MsoBodyText"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">David and Diane have three daughters. Their oldest daughter Kathleen and her husband Ryan Ludwig are teachers in Reno, Nevada. Their middle daughter Erin is finishing her education at Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, and will also be a teacher. Youngest daughter Kerry is a student at Azusa Pacific University where she is majoring in communications.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">David Gallagher is District Governor Nominee for District 5220 in Central California. He has been a member of Modesto Sunrise Rotary Club since 1987 and served as Club President during 1997-1998.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">David is an Optometrist and has a private practice in Modesto. He received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. He is a Past President of the San Joaquin Optometric Society.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">He has served the City of Modesto on the Planning Commission and was the Chairman from 1988 through 1990. David also has volunteered as a youth soccer and softball coach for many years.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">David has been a member of The Flying Samaritans since 1986. He has served as their President and has been elected Flying Samaritan of the Year. The organization provides free medical care to the poor in Mexico. The first trip that he took to provide free eyecare was in 1986. David just completed&nbsp; trip number 47, which was to Romania. The trips have been with Flying Samaritans, Rotary, and his church. He has dispensed over 10,000 pairs of eyeglasses to the poor in third world countries.</font></p>

He then went on to two other insurance companies where he furthered his career in key management positions. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: ArialMT; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Nick is a native Californian born in Martinez and educated in Concord where he graduated from Mt. Diablo High School. In addition to completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Marketing at Chico State, Nick also achieved the professional designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter and is a lifetime member of the Society of CPCU.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: ArialMT; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Nick met and married his wife Cathy while still in college. This year they will be celebrating 41 years of marriage. They have three daughters and four grandchildren.&nbsp; Cathy enjoys spending much of her time as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Nick enjoys golf in his free time.&nbsp; Getting away to the mountains is something they both look forward to.</span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY: ArialMT; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">In 1986, soon after moving to Modesto for a career opportunity, Nick was invited to join Modesto Sunrise Rotary.&nbsp; He saw this as a way of getting involved in the community and meeting other business people.&nbsp;&nbsp; After serving on various club committees, Nick became club president for the 1993 -1994 year.&nbsp; He then went on to become involved in District 5220 operations as well.&nbsp; Today after stints in 1998-1999 as Assistant District Governor and in 2001 as Club Service Team Captain, he serves as 2003-2004 District Governor.</span></p>
<p><span style="FONT-FAMILY: ArialMT; FONT-SIZE: 10pt">Over the years Nick has also devoted time to Rotary as District Insurance Chairman, Area representative for Area 6, Chairman of the 1997 and 1998 District Assemblies, Chairman of the District Disaster Relief Committee, Chairman of the Foundation Alumni Committee, and Chairman of the International Friendship Exchange Committee. Nick has volunteered in his community and in World Community Service eye clinics and projects in Mexico and Honduras. Now in 2003/2004, Nick will follow PDG Leonard Bartlett 1980/1981 as the second District Governor from Capax/Giddings, Corby, Hynes, the Modesto insurance brokerage firm where Nick is a commercial insurance broker and partner serving as senior vice president and director. </span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Marge, Bob&rsquo;s wife, has also been very active in community and youth activities.&nbsp; She was a special education teacher for over twenty years.&nbsp; Marge was honored by the Tahoe City Rotary Club with a Paul Harris Fellowship for her civic activities. The Hartsfield&#8217;s have four children and 15 grandchildren.</font></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Bob Hartsfield has been a Rotarian for over 35 years with three Rotary Clubs.&nbsp; For the past four years he has been a member of the Tahoe City Rotary Club where he served in many leadership roles which includes being club president for 2001-02 year.&nbsp; Bob started his Rotary experience with the Hermosa Beach Rotary Club. In 1970, he joined the South Pasadena Rotary Club and was president of their in 1989-90. Bob&rsquo;s District 5190 activities include District Conference Chairman in 2000 and District Award Chairman in 2001.&nbsp; Prior to moving to Tahoe he was active in many District 5300 positions in Southern California.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font size="2" face="Trebuchet MS">Bob is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in finance and accounting.&nbsp; After a short experience in banking and being a controller of a small company, he spent 30 years as assistant controller of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) where he handled all their Federal Financial activities.&nbsp; After retiring in 1998, he moved to Tahoe and continued his community activities. </font></p>
